With less than one week left for the Summit, the team is focused on putting together the details of the programme and you can consult the most recent version of it on Summit Programme. The most important new feature is the confirmation that certain personalities will be present at the Summit.
We have also highlighted some of the most important activities on the Cultural Agenda during the Summit. These highlights can also be consulted in this CountDown's issue.
Summit programme is available. HRH the Prince of Asturias, will attend
the inauguration. Furthermore, the Spanish Prime Minister José
Luis Rodríguez Zapatero will take part in the discussions on the
10th, where Kofi Annan, Secretary-General of the United Nations, will
give a keynote speech and HM King Juan Carlos I of Spain will also address
the Summit's participants.
In this issue, CountDown highlights the signing of a cooperation agreement between the Spanish Government, the Regional Government of Madrid and the Town Hall of Madrid with the Club of Madrid, for the staging of the International Summit on Democracy, Terrorism and Security. Through this agreement, all levels of Spanish government are reaffirming their desire to use this Summit as a symbol of their commitment to combat terrorism and their support of its victims.
Welcome to CountDown, the newsletter of the Madrid Summit. We hope that it will give everyone interested in the Summit the information they need to follow progress and play a part.
