Executive Director, Human Rights Watch, USA

In ten years as director of Human Rights Watch, the organization has tripled in size and greatly expanded its thematic reach. Served as a federal prosecutor in the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York and for the Iran-Contra investigation in Washington (1987). Conducted numerous human rights investigations and missions around the world, and has written extensively on human rights abuses, international justice and war crimes.
