CEO and Secretary General, CIVICUS World Alliance for Citizen Participation

Prior to joining CIVICUS was the founding director of the South African NGO Coalition. Served on the task team to draft new NGO legislation. Published several articles on NGOs, civil society and youth and resistance politics in South Africa. Was centrally involved in the first democratic elections in South Africa in 1994.
