Frangialli, Francesco

Secretary-General, World Tourism Organization

Prior to current position was deputy secretary-general (1990-1996). Elected as secretary-general by the General Assembly for the period 1998 to 2001, and again for the period 2002 to 2005. Led the transformation of the organization into a specialized agency of the United Nations. Has an extensive background in public administration and served as director of the tourism industry in the French Ministry (1986-1990).
