El Bindari Hammad, Aleya

Secretary General, Women Defending Peace; Chair, Global Advisory Board, Wagner/New York University; Co-founder and Board Member, Suzanne Mubarak Women’s International Peace Movement, Switzerland

Founder of the Hammad International Fund at NYU. Prior to joining NYU, was the executive director/assistant director general, World Health Organisation in Geneva, responsible for Health in Development policy. Author of many books and publications, the most recent being Muslim Women Are the First Victims of Islamic Extremists (the International Herald Tribune, December 2001).
